Once the Manger Hotel was Savannah’s finest place for hospitality, with our first fully air-conditioned guest rooms and the rooftop Purple Tree Lounge. In 1985 Gunn & Meyerhoff designed and oversaw her conversion into an office building, utilizing some of the city’s first historic investment federal income tax credits, and Patrick Shay designed all of the tenant improvements, including The First City Club—Savannah’s first business club with membership open to all people—and the original Bank South.
